Corporate Identity Theory

I am writing this essay to explain how E4 uses corporate identity to create an image in the minds of the target audience.

corporate identity theory is the overall image of a corporation or firm or business in the minds of diverse publics, such as customers and investors and employees.(wikipedia)
within corporate identity, there are underlying categories. design, which represents the logo, colours of the logo and the font in which the logo is written in.communication, public relations e.g. E4 estings and programming. And finally, behavior, internal values/norms (what the company wants to acheieve) e.g. shows that appeal to their target audience.

E4 uses corporate design with their logo to make it stand out and appeal to their target audience. they use the colour purple because it is a unisex colour, stands out to thier target audience and represents that E4 shows fun and different shows. The E4 logo its self has a unique font style where the letter E is inside the 4 itself. I think this is beneficial to E4 because it shows they are different and fun.









E4 also uses corporate communication such as the E4 estings. these are short clips to give the viewer and idea of what the programme or show is about.I think this is a good idea because they are fun but informative. They use public relations to help maintain an image and keep the interest of their target audience.


Finally E4 uses corporate behaviour. their internal values and what they want to achieve as a company. As a television company, their number one priority is their viewers, their target audience. The people that that watch the shows and give the show ratings. For example, the 16 to 34 year olds that watch shows such as new girl, and scrubs. Both shows appeal to both male and female viewers.
I think that, because they broadcast shows to both male and female viewers; they get more viewers and therefore more ratings and therefore more money.

in conclusion, E4 uses corporate identity to mantain the image they have created for themselves and the reputation they have in the eyes of their viewers. E4 must keep this image they have so that they can mantain their viewers, their ratings and therefore their money. personally, i think they have created a good image and reputation for thereselves and that the shows they broadcast reflect their reputation.
